{"id":419,"date":"2015-03-22T06:14:21","date_gmt":"2015-03-22T06:14:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/panamaholic.com\/?p=419"},"modified":"2015-03-23T12:31:13","modified_gmt":"2015-03-23T12:31:13","slug":"i-made-the-panama-hat-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panamaholic.com\/?p=419","title":{"rendered":"I made the Panama Hat Tour!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"ecxWordSection1\">\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Helloooo, <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Last Sunday, I was in company of some lovely people,\u00a0part of the Panama Hat Tour, organized by Ecua-Andino along the coast of Ecuador. <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">The goal was to <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">discover the origin and traditional process of making a Panama hat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">To sum it up, the hat process starts after the artisans collect in the coast mountains a bulk of toquilla palm and tie it into bundles of 8, we went to the town of Barcelona and saw how they boiled the toquilla palm in a large cauldron of hot water. Once the <i>cogollos\u00a0<\/i>were cooked, they took them out of the cauldron and let them dry (for about 2 days). But that was not bothering us at all as we really wanted to know the process of our beloved hats. So we went to a Panama Hats factory and were taught the last part of the hat making process such as cutting the edges and ironing the Panama Hat.
